School description
- School Š. Šmálik is located in a provincial town
Tvrdošín. There are students from the center, the housing estate and the
neighboring village. Students mostly come from multiple families where one
parent works abroad. There are 21 teachers and 310 pupils. It is situated
in a historic building in the city center. It is equipped with 2 computer
rooms for ICT, bio-physical classr., lang. classrooms, gym, 12 interactive
whiteboards, 30 mini-notebooks and 20 tablets. There is a training kitchen
in the school where pupils to the practical cooking. Our school intensely
devotes to the 18 disadvantaged students who have learning problems. We
have a special teacher who has specified three lessons per a week when she
tutors them individually. Our students regularly participate successfully
in a variety of competitions, Olympiads.The school is also active in
project activities such as eTwinning, Access and projects announced by the
Ministry of Education. Our school got a prize of Ministry of Education for
example of good practice. Our one teacher works as eTwinning ambassador
after her project won first place in Europe and the Ministry of Education
determine our school as a training eTwinning in SK. We work with schools
and organizations working in the city and county. It is a place where they
organize the district rounds of Maths and SK lang.Olympiad. We cooperate
very close with the center of the spec. educational counsulting and all
teachers are helpful in educating of pupils with educational defects.EN
teacher cooperates with Methodical centre in country, she is a member of
teacherś group producing EN books for SK Basic schools.
Our school participed at
E+ projects at theme Soil, that helped us more and structured think at
imortance of saving our soil ehere zhe product was book with lessons for all
subjects dealing with this theme, we add it to our curriculum. At this time we
have E+ K2 as partners at theme WE know better with stories, the goal is to
know Europe better with trad. folks and increase students´and public fantasy.
Product is book full of stories from all over the world and new stories created
by participiants. The second K2 project where we figure as coordinators is on
theme Improving Technical Proficiency. Goals are dealing with using usefull
apps in edu. to be closer to student and set them motiv. for selfstudying. We
finished K1 at theme e-Learning, where we improved our ICT compet. The
result of attendance by our teachers is creating of e-Learning platform
for subjects mainly addrresed to our students with edu. problems. Before
we had project Erasmus plus K1- structured courses for teachers close to
handcrafts in eductaion. Right now we use it at Art and we organize free
workshops for public.
